Terms of Service.
Last updated 27 October 2026. Written to be read: the short version is that you own your files, you're responsible for what you and your agents upload, and we can close accounts that break the rules.
1. Who we are
drop.media is run by Matthew Haworth, a sole trader in England, trading as drop.media ("we", "us"). You can reach us through our contact page.
These terms are a contract between you and us. They apply when you create an account or use drop.media, including through the website, the API, the drop CLI, the MCP server and any app or AI agent you connect. If you're using drop.media for a business, "you" means that business, and you confirm you can agree to these terms for it. Our Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy form part of these terms.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18, and the details you give us must be accurate.
- Keep your password and API keys secure. You're responsible for everything done with your account and keys, including by people you invite into a shared account.
- You're responsible for your agents. Anything an AI agent, app or script uploads, shares or deletes using your account or keys is treated as done by you.
- Tell us straight away through our contact page if you think your account or a key has been misused. You can revoke keys at any time from Agents & API.
3. Plans and payment
- We offer a free plan and paid plans. What each includes, and its price, is shown on our pricing page when you sign up or change plan.
- Paid plans are billed monthly in advance by card through our payment provider, Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.
- Usage beyond what a plan includes (for example extra AI images or storage on Pro) is charged in arrears on your next monthly invoice, at the rates shown on the pricing page.
- If a payment fails, we'll retry it and may suspend paid features until it's paid. Unpaid usage charges remain owed.
- We may change our prices. We'll tell you by email at least 30 days before a change affects your subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
- The free plan has limits (at present files up to 10 MB, 50 uploads in total, 500 MB of storage, and files kept for up to 30 days). We may change or withdraw the free plan at any time; if we withdraw it, we'll give you at least 30 days to download your files.
4. Cancelling
- You can cancel a paid plan at any time from Billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. We don't refund part-used periods, except as described below or where the law requires.
- If you're a consumer in the UK, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of first subscribing. Because the service starts as soon as you subscribe, if you cancel in that time we'll refund what you paid, less a proportionate amount for the service you'd received up to the point you told us. To use this right, cancel from Billing and tell us through our contact page.
5. Your files
- You own what you upload. You give us a licence to store, copy, process (for example to make thumbnails), transmit and display your files only as needed to run drop.media for you and the people you share links with. The licence ends when the files are deleted, apart from copies in short-lived backups.
- You confirm you have the rights to everything you upload, and that it doesn't break the law or our Acceptable Use Policy.
- Public files can be seen by anyone who has the link. Private files are reachable only through signed links that expire. Don't upload anything public that you wouldn't want shared.
- Files given an expiry, and all files on the free plan, are deleted automatically when it passes.
- drop.media is not a backup service. Keep your own copies of anything important.
- We don't routinely look at your files, but we may review, restrict or remove any file when we reasonably believe it breaks these terms or the law, or when we receive a valid complaint about it.
6. Fair use and limits
Each plan has limits on file size, storage, uploads, AI images and request rates. We may slow down or refuse requests that go over them, or that put an unreasonable load on the service, such as using public links as the image host for a busy website. Plan limits may change; if a change reduces what your paid plan includes, we'll tell you at least 30 days in advance.
7. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close your account, and remove your files, immediately and without notice if we reasonably believe that:
- you, or anyone or anything using your account, have broken these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy;
- your account is being used for anything illegal, harmful, fraudulent or abusive, or puts other customers, our service or our providers at risk;
- we're required to by law, a court, the police or another authority;
- you've opened multiple free accounts to get around limits, or disputed or reversed a payment without good reason; or
- payment for your account is overdue and remains unpaid after we've asked for it.
In these cases you won't be entitled to a refund. Where it's lawful and safe, we'll tell you why.
We may also close your account for any other reason by giving you at least 30 days' notice by email. If we do, we'll refund any amount you've paid for time after your account closes.
You can close your account at any time through our contact page.
8. After your account closes
When your account closes, or a paid plan ends and your files go over your new plan's limits, we may stop serving your files. We keep them for at least 30 days so you can resubscribe or ask us for them. After that we may delete them, and deleted files can't be recovered. Files removed because of illegal content or a breach of the Acceptable Use Policy may be deleted straight away, or kept where the law requires us to. We keep billing records for as long as the law requires.
9. Copyright and other complaints
If you believe a file on drop.media infringes your copyright or other rights, or is illegal, tell us through our contact page with the file's link, what you believe is wrong, and your contact details. We'll look into it promptly and may remove the file. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.
10. The service
We work to keep drop.media fast and available, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we make a change that significantly reduces what your paid plan does, we'll tell you in advance and you can cancel; if you're on a paid plan when we withdraw the service entirely, we'll refund any time you've paid for and not used.
11. Our responsibility to you
If you're a consumer: we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss that isn't foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
If you're a business: the service is provided "as is", and we exclude all implied terms to the extent the law allows. We're not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us in those 12 months. Nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. You'll compensate us for any claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from files you or your agents upload, or from your breach of these terms.
12. Privacy
How we collect and use personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect; if you don't agree, you can cancel before then. Other changes take effect when we publish them here.
14. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- We may transfer this contract to someone who takes over drop.media; we'll tell you, and it won't reduce your rights. You may not transfer it without our agreement.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- These terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about drop.media.
